The cabin is nestled in a peaceful birch, maple and pine forest next to a ravine, and provides romantic views from every window. You'll feel totally private, comfy and relaxed. The sun rises across the street from the cabin — over Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands. You can catch glimpses of the lake in early spring and late fall, and will see even more of the lake in the winter. Because the cabin is away from city lights, you'll also see an abundance of stars at night — and yes, the Milky Way, too!

Whether you are the outdoor adventure type who has come to experience all the area has to offer, or simply want to relax with a good book on the cabin's deck overlooking our ravine, you’ll agree that Hauser's Bayfield Cabin is a tranquil place to stay. Our guestbook is filled with comments about getaways that have been very relaxing experiences — and just what our guests needed!

You'll feel cozy and snug amidst the cabin’s pleasant furnishings, hardwood floors, knotty pine ceilings, and quartzite walls. There are fresh breezes through the numerous large windows in spring, summer, and fall — and very even heat in winter from the eco-friendly geothermal heating system — or you can have a romantic fire using the wood stove and heat the cabin with the wood stove for your entire stay!. The geothermal system will also air condition the cabin in the summer, though with our lovely climate, it is rare that the cabin needs it.

At night the forest is aglow with lights — very romantic year round, but especially in winter, when from late December to late February we add tiny white lights to the wrap-around deck railings and some of the pines in back! You can control the tiny lights from your remote inside.

In spring, summer and fall you can enjoy a peaceful meal at the dinette set on the back deck overlooking the forest and ravine. For barbecues we have a Weber grill — don't forget to bring charcoal and lighter fluid. And what is a trip to the northwoods without a night around the fire? We supply the outdoor fire pit and seating — we usually have a supply of firewood near the pit, but you can hunt for dead wood in the forest out back if you like! Indoors, we have a Pacific Energy Neo 1.6 wood stove — please use the 12 inch wood from our woodpile. The stove produces a romantic ambiance and nice heat, and is quieter than using the geothermal heating system with no fans blowing air!

In the winter, you'll have free use of our Yukon Charlie snowshoes with poles. There is plenty of room for your snowmobile and trailer — or boat trailer in the summer — in the driveway.

If you find you need contact with the outside world, we have free wifi, and wireless Panasonic phones with free local and long-distance calling.

While staying at the cabin, away from the traffic and noise, you'll still be able to enjoy all that Bayfield, Cornucopia, the Chequamegon Bay area, the Apostle Islands including Madeline Island, and Lake Superior have to offer. Apostle Islands National Lakeshore's Little Sand Bay and it's beautiful beach are just 4 miles up the road — or just a short paddle away. Eight miles up Highway 13 toward Cornucopia is Meyer's Beach, with a hiking trail and kayaking access to the sea caves. In winter, Meyer's Beach is the access point to hike to the ice caves when they are open. We are the closest lodging establishment to the ice caves in the Bayfield area! Bayfield, and the ferry to Madeline Island, are just 15 minutes — that's 10 miles — away. Cornucopia is about 16 miles away. Washburn is 23 miles away. Ashland is 34 miles away. The new Legendary Waters Casino is 8 miles away.

Let our cabin be your home away from home!
